Robert Coenen leads sales and business development for InterOptic and Advantage Optics on the West Coast. His work encompasses optical networking products and product planning.

Previously, he served as a Business Development Manager in Intel’s silicon photonics group. He drove key accounts to design wins, and identified customer needs to guide Intel’s product portfolio evolution.

Previously, he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Reflex Photonics. He was responsible for global marketing, business development and customer. He managed OEM and partner application engineering support.

Earlier, he served as a Senior Design Engineer at Finisar Corporation. He also was a Senior Applications Engineer at Redfern Integrated Optics and Scintera Networks. He started his career as a Senior Design Engineer at Gtran Corporation, where he led optical and electrical design teams.

He has served on or monitored many standards committees and organizations. His experience spans the Ethernet Alliance, the Optical Internetworking Forum, IEEE 802.3ba, 802.3aq and 802.3ae, SFF MSA Committee, T11 and Infiniband. 

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering at the University of Victoria, a Master of Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Waterloo, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the University of British Columbia.
